Working...
American Government is a required class at Loomis School. It is taken during the senior year.
Government class will be a mix of textbook and online learning, with a goal of continuing to prepare students for college classes. For example, as the year goes on homework will become a smaller percentage of the grade and tests will count for a larger percentage. We will start the year by taking notes that can be "copied from the board" and move towards taking notes independently from a lecture.
In addition to learning the basics of the US Government system, we spend a great deal of time discussing current events. This will include various topics from local events to world-wide events. Not only will we discuss the events themselves, but we will discuss the effect these events could have on the future that our students will build for themselves after their time at Loomis Schools.
